Joan Wangari is the founder of Hope on Feet, an organization that supports cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers through psychosocial support, economic empowerment, advocacy, and awareness initiatives. With over a decade of experience in cancer advocacy, Joan has been trained in advocacy skills through DEPCASS and holds a certificate in supportive care from the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
She is also a certified mental health coach, dedicating her time to offering psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families. As a passionate community health promoter and mobilizer, Joan works closely with local leaders to champion better health practices within her community.
Joan collaborates with Kilele Health, an initiative that promotes physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing through therapeutic hiking experiences. She is currently advancing her career at Amani Counselling Centre, where she is pursuing a diploma in Counselling Psychology.
A pancreatic cancer warrior herself, Joan has used her lived experience to advocate for early screening and treatment—appearing on national television and in public forums to inspire others. She also serves as the Deputy Chairperson of the NCD Alliance Kenya (NCDAK) Caucus, where she is an active member driving the agenda on non-communicable diseases.
