Prisca Githuka is a triple positive breast cancer survivor who is the founder of Pink Hearts Cancer Support Foundation. The Foundation is responsible for creating awareness on breast and gynaecologic cancers and their risk factors, education on cancer prevention, survivorship and has made donations of over 500 prosthesis and compression sleeves.

Motivated by her own personal experience, Prisca is a cancer advocate championing for favorable policies and working health systems in the cancer and other NCDs space. She has been in the frontine championing for inclusive oncology package under the social health insurance, availability of essential drugs such as hereceptin among many others.

Prisca is the immediate past Board Secretary of Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations ( KENCO) and Chair of the advocacy, education and research committe in KENCO promoting evidence based advocacy. She was recently elected as the Vice-chair of KENCO. She is also the current chairperson of Cancer Survivors Association of Kenya.

Globally, Prisca is a member of the Global Advisory Committee of “Our Views, Our Voices” which is an initiative of the NCD Alliance, a member of the Patient Advocate Working Group of the European Society of Medical Oncology ( ESMO) and member of the Global Alliance for Cancer Patients Navigation. Prisca is a fellow of both the UICC Cancer advocate program and Campaign for Cancer Patient advocates incubator program.

Prisca also sits in the survivorship technical working group of the Ministry of Health, the leadership committee of the Africa Cancer survivorship working group and is a member of the Global Week of Action organizing team and Caucus of Patients living with NCDs in Kenya under NCD Alliance Kenya.

Prisca has spoken in national and global forums including the official press conference of the 4th Global NCD Alliance in Kigali, Rwanda, high level panel in the first ever Cancer summit in Kenya, AORTIC conference held in Senegal in a side event on Survivorship and several national media engagements. She has participated in research on cancer survivorship, access and pricing of NCD drugs and commodities and development of a white paper on Kenya’s journey to a robust universal health coverage whose findings were to be used in advocacy work.

Prisca’s journey as a patient and caregiver has fuelled her commitment to ensuring that patient voices are central to healthcare decision making.

Academically, Prisca holds a MBA from the University of Nairobi and holds professional certificates in Marketing and Project Management. Professionally, she has over 20 years experience in senior leadership roles in the development space working for NGOs , bilateral and multilateral donor agencies.
