World Cancer Day 2019- 4th February, was celebrated in a magnificent way in Kenya. Many came together and converged at Tuskys Grounds in Meru County.

The event was flagged off by Meru governor Hon. Kiraitu Murungi and Meru First Lady Priscilla Murungi, and they later launched the Meru Level 5 Oncology Unit. Also present at the event were; Dr. Anne Nga’ng’a, Dr. Joan Paula Bor and Dr. Lydia Kirika from National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP).  Diabetes Management Institute was well represented led by Dr. Eva Muchemi. Division of NCD was also present headed by Dr. Kibachio, Dr. Karagu from the National Cancer Institute also graced the event. KENCO Board led by Chair, David Makumi were not left behind. KENCO Secretariat and members traveled from far and wide to mark this day along side other partners.

The events of the day included launching of the Meru Level 5 Oncology Unit, launching of the national cancer screening guidelines, a walk in Meru Town, cancer screenings and cancer awareness talks. Thank you to all who made the day a success. United we will fight the cancer scourge.
