In recognition of the fact that the fight against cancer demands a multisectoral approach and of the important and influential role that religious leaders play in the society, KENCO has been engaging religious leaders with an aim of involving them more in the fight against cancer. Starting with the High Level Religious Leaders and moving down to grassroots religious leaders and faith communities, KENCO hopes to sensitize religious leaders on cancer and to work with them moving forward in creation of awareness on the disease in order to promote early cancer detection, break the silence and end stigma and discrimination against cancer patients and survivors; in advocacy for quality and affordable cancer treatment and care services; and in resource mobilization for cancer control work. So far, two (2) High Level Religious Leaders meeting has been held and various planning meetings have been held with Inter Religious Council of Kenya to conceptualize and design the program.
